Chris Hite is the CEO and President of Sugar Creek Capital, the tax credit syndication and investment business he built within Sugar Creek Realty since joining the firm in 2005. Under his leadership, Sugar Creek Capital has grown into a nationally recognized leader in identifying and investing in meaningful projects that generate state tax credits — having purchased and placed more than $4 billion across more than 20 states. Chris’s favorite among them are the more than 500 affordable housing developments that Sugar Creek has helped make possible.
Chris leads Sugar Creek’s team of professionals and works regularly with a wide range of partners — developers, federal syndicators, bankers, law firms, accounting firms, and state housing authorities — to evaluate investment opportunities and help shape the laws and regulations that make affordable housing possible for working families, seniors, and veterans. His expertise spans Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), State Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits, and renewable energy tax credit investments.
Before joining Sugar Creek in 2005, Chris was a founding partner at the law firm Dull, Hite & Lowe, an associate in the real estate department at Polsinelli, and a law clerk at the Missouri Housing Development Commission. His board service has included multiple national affordable housing organizations, as well as numerous state affordable housing coalitions and real estate trade associations.
A proud product of rural Missouri, Chris grew up in Clinton and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in political science with a business emphasis from the University of Missouri and his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law.
In addition to steering the ship at Sugar Creek Capital, Chris is a U.S. Coast Guard licensed Master Captain.
