Audrey Hayden joined Sugar Creek Capital with over 25 years of state tax experience in the insurance industry. Most recently Audrey served as an Assistant Vice President in the Corporate Tax Department of The Hartford Financial Services Company. She was responsible for all state and local taxes, including state and local premium, retaliatory, income, property, and sales and use taxes in addition to all state funds and surcharges. Audrey also managed all aspects of state tax planning, research, and tax policy advocacy. The state tax credit program, which grew exponentially under her leadership, was a rewarding element of Audrey’s prior role. She gained extensive knowledge and broad experience in the various types of state tax credits, deal structures, and accounting requirements, which also developed her belief that companies can do well and do good at the same time.
Audrey has served as a panelist and speaker at numerous industry conferences. In addition, she served as Chair of the American Insurance Association’s state tax committee and Co-Chair of the American Property and Casualty Insurance Association’s state tax committee. Audrey received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut.
Audrey is a lifelong New Englander and enjoys each activity that a new season brings, including the late winter family tradition of boiling down sap for maple syrup. In warmer weather, she is especially fond of golfing with friends that allow unlimited mulligans, and she is always willing to fly fish in an ice-cold river as long as she doesn’t have to take the fish off the hook.
